Greetings from Nauvoo

Hello there and good morning!  Today I'm coming to you from the banks of the Mississippi River in Nauvoo, IL.  We are here on a little mini vacation with Daniel's family and enjoying the beauty that is God's creations.  Reagan awoke at an ungodly hour this morning, so I've got a few (2,3?) hours to kill before anyone else even begins to wake up.

If you're asking yourself: "Why on Earth are you on vacation in Nauvoo, IL?" then you probably aren't Mormon.  Nauvoo is filled with Mormon history, in fact we founded the city when the early members in our Church fled here from Kirtland, OH.  We didn't stay long, however.  Soon the Mormon Pioneers were forced to flee out west, thus how we ended up in Utah.  Anyway, you can read all about it here

The Dews awoke early, early to make our own get-away out of Ohio to Nauvoo yesterday.  It's a 10 hour drive, and the kids actually did AH-MAZE-ING.  Seriously, I have a couple road warriors.  Logan had a mini-breakdown at a gas station because he didn't want to go potty and Reagan cried for about the last 30 minutes, but other than that it was smooooooooth sailing.

And then we were greeted by this:

So it was absolutely all worth it!!

The first thing Logan wanted to do was jump in the pool. Luckily Isaac was there to catch him.

And Reagan took the time to bond with some of her crazy uncles.

One of the main reasons a lot of people come to Nauvoo in the summer is to see the pageant that they put on every year.  Everyone headed off to that last night, but my kids were completely done for, so we stayed home and went to bed early.  God rewarded my motherly sacrifice with this beauty:

Looking forward to a day of exploring, good food, and good times with family.  I'll hopefully be back (a few hours later) tomorrow morning with an update.
